FR-One fabrics are produced using yarn spun fron inherently flame retardant man-made textile fibres.
The major requirements of an inherently flame retardant textile yarn is to prevent flames or fire on the fabric from spreading quickly.

The inherently flame retardant fibre is engineered so that flames do not spread quickly and have some self-extinguishing characteristics, although this does not mean that if fabric is ignited it will extinguish itself. The molecular structure of the fibres of our inherently flame retardant textile has been engineered to provide the required flame retardant characteristics.
In order to preserve the inherent flame retardant characteristics of the FR-One fabrics, it is imperative to refuse any additional treatments or finishes as it may affect or alter the fabric's inherent flame retardant characteristics and quality.
Washability

The inherently flame retardant nature of all FR-One fibres is conserved within the molecular structure. This means that the flame retardant characteristics of the fibre, yarn and fabric is permanent.
Standards & Testing Elaboration
All FR-One fabrics are tested in independent laboratories in countries all over the world to ensure they meet the required standard.
The testing procedure and equipment for flame retardancy differ throughout the world, resulting in some fabrics falling to achieve the specified standards. For this reason FR-One quality label is designed to encompass and guarantee all these standards in one fabric.
The laboratories and equipment that do the flame retardant test are designed to simulate the effect of a burning flame or ignition source on a fabric. This always has to be done under controlled conditions due to the safety aspects of burning different materials. From the various test procedure different readings and results are accurately recorded from a cross section of different samples from the same item. This information is then observed to see if the readings fall within the required tolerance for the fabric to be classified as a Pass.
All independent laboratories that FR-One uses to confirm they conform to the standard are independent certified testing houses. In conjunction with the independent test houses FR-One has invested in its own state of the art laboratory with the very best testing equipment to ensure that the quality and flame retardancy performance of all production following the initial certification are maintained.
