Designer Jamie Hayon is born in Madrid. Throughout his work you see a constant playing with aesthetic elements and exploring the boundaries between art and interior design. He has received numerous awards for his work. Wallpaper magazine has put him in the list of top 100 best designers and Times magazine sees him as a visionary and one of the most influential designers of this decade.
When you pass the greeting bear you step into the playful world of a creative icon. Jaime tells his story of Spain through the jewel-toned color palette and the tongue in cheek art work that decorates the wall. Every element is displaying many clever references to Spain’s rich heritage. "I was fully dedicated to the creation of a very special and unique space that would represent a new vision of Spain, a vision far from the traditional aesthetic", he said.
There is always humour and a touch of sensuality in his designs. You immediately see that sensuous feeling in the fabulous blue sofa designed in FR-One 'Houdini' velvet. FR-One fire retardant fabrics combine technical excellence with quality and design. The Houdini velvet range has a lovely soft touch and deep rich colours, elements that fit the striking design scheme of this hotel.
The pale green dim out curtains in the bar and lobby area come from the FR-One Blockbuster range. A sensitive and engaging colour that brings a relaxed and ornate feature to the room. The Blockbuster range has an elegant drapability and combines functionality with sophistication. FR-One dim out fabrics function as light filters and will also help with acoustics and heat control.
The Blockbuster fabric in the lobby is combined with the lovely sheers from the FR-One Gossy collection. They softly filter the Mediterranean sun coming through the majestic hotel windows.
Jaime Hayon has truly delivered a unique hotel design for Torre de Madrid hotel Barceló .
